Introduction: Have orthopedic surgeons reduced their use of microfracture in patients with concomitant ACL-reconstruction and cartilage defects? A study found worse long-term result in these patients compared to when the ACL was reconstructed without any further cartilage surgery ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26657851 ).
Aim: To explore whether the frequency of microfracture in patients with concomitant ACL-reconstruction and cartilage defects is decreasing.
Methods: Collect and analyse data from the Norwegian cruciate ligament register.
Implications: The results from health registries is an important supplement to that of randomized controlled trials, and this new knowledge must be applied to the clinic.
