Description

There is little evidence available concerning risk factors in female youth football.

The aim of this prospective cohort study is to analyze a couple of risk factors to lower limb injuries among young female football players.

Method: Female players (120 teams, 2 100 players, 14-16 years) will participate in the registration of the 2005-season. All injuries, training and match activities will be recorded throughout an eight month period.
During the two-month pre-season, every player will be ask to fill out a detailed questionnaire including player history, previous injuries and persistent lower limb function of the ankle and  knee joints, as well of the thigh and groin muscles.

This investigation will give us valuable information about potential risk factors in this cohort and help us to identify players at risk. These players should be the target for injury prevention interventions as early as possible.
